Q: Would you like to introduce yourself?

A:Yeah. Hey! My name is Chevany but everyone I know/meet either call me Chevy or Chev. This is because it is somewhat easier to remember and so that people don’t end up pronouncing it wrong.

Q: How has your journey been up to this point?

A: I’m 21 years old and I think my journey to this point has been a relatively normal one.

The biggest issue that I had, and I’m still having, was trying to balance my school life and my personal life. I found that my school work took up a huge chunk of my life and as such, I didn’t get to really enjoy my youth.

I think I got better at managing it but now I’m stuck trying to get rid of my procrastination habit.

Q: What are your current ventures? Your blog?

A: I am currently in my final year of university where I’m getting my Bachelors degree in Tourism Management. I only have one semester left so my graduation is so close yet so far. After I graduate I literally have no idea what I’m going to do but I’m sure I’ll figure it out.

As it relates to my blog, I started Chevy Takes The Mic because to put it simply I wanted a voice. I wanted to be heard; not in the literal sense though. While growing up people would tell me “You talk too much” or “Why do you talk so much?!” so I felt like I was doing something wrong and I needed to fix it. In my head fixing it meant that I should stop talking and that’s what I did. Maturing taught me that I don’t have to live my life based on what people say. I’m gaining my voice back step by step through my blog.


Q: What goals do you have right now?

A: I like to think of my goals as aspirations because they are things that I hope to achieve but I don’t have a set plan of action to work with at this moment. Just like everyone else I have some cliche goals: get married, get my Masters degree, buy a house and start a family. But if I’m being honest with myself those goals are not for me. They’re more like things people want me to achieve because it’s ‘right’. So as of right now, MY goals are:

1. To be at a point in my life where I’m satisfied with myself, my life and all that I’ve accomplished.
2. To live a peaceful life doing the most good that I can.
3. To bring happiness to whoever I meet, someway or the other.
